Akon
Akon was born on 14th of October 1981 in Senegal, in the family of famous jazz artist. When he was seven his family moved to New Jersey. First Akon wanted to follow in father’s footsteps, but at the streets of New Jersey he got to know what is hip-hop. At once he realized that it is what he was looking for. But streets acquaint him not only with hip-hop…
When Akon was 15 his parents moved to another city and he with his brother had to provide themselves. Then all his knowledge proved useful: he stolen, sold weapon and drugs, hijacked. At the end of 90-th he was caught and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. This helped Akon to comprehend his life and make a firm decision to practice music. Akon calls this period of his life “useful experience”. In jail Akon wrote his main hits: “Lonley”, “Bananza (Belly Dancer)”, “Ghetto” and “Locked Up”. After discharge he headed directly to a studio to record them. Literally in a week the songs were broadcasted by all radio stations. Akon at once became a star being a desired guest everywhere.
Today Akon is a producer, musician, poet, politician, clothes designer. Sometimes it looks like he can do everything. We hope that he’ll be recording new songs that we love so much!
